Where our data comes from

West Houston Senior Living Guideis an independent directory, owned and run in West Houston. We aren't a senior living company and we don't operate any of the places listed. Today it covers 182 communities.

Official records

• Assisted living and memory care come from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission directory of every assisted living facility with an active license, last pulled as of 10/26/2026. That's where license type, licensed capacity, Alzheimer certification, license dates and the licensed operator come from.
• Nursing homes come from Medicare's Care Compare (CMS), data as of 2026-09-01: the 1-5 star ratings, staffing hours, turnover, fines and abuse citations.

Everything else

Google ratings, photos and websites come from each community's Google listing. Care offered, prices and amenities are summarized from the community's own website and labeled that way, because they're what the community says about itself.

How lists are ordered

By Google rating, weighted by how many reviews it's based on, then by size. Communities can pay for a featured spot at the top of a list; featured listings are always labeled, and paying never changes a community's license data, ratings or fines.
